preface
Forgive or Forget is a short film and a proof of concept for a feature currently in development. It’s drawn from real-life experiences, shaped by both my own history and the people I love.
The film explores themes of memory, identity, and the parts of ourselves we bury to survive. Tonally, think Past Lives meets Sicario.
At its core, this is a story about the secrets and trauma we inherit, and the silence that holds families together.
Until it doesn’t.

director’s statement
This story is deeply personal to me and to those closest to me.
A year ago, my grandmother was diagnosed with dementia and moved into assisted living. I’ve witnessed firsthand the downward spiral of confusion, fear, anger, and spite that ultimately landed her in memory care. But I’ve also seen the enduring moments of love and tenderness that break through. The pieces of her are still there, they’re just scattered. The entire ordeal has been heartbreaking for everyone involved. It still is.
But it’s not just my own experiences that are represented here. My girlfriend’s experience with familial trauma mirrors the complicated relationship between Dario and Lucia. Their dynamic is the story. The weight of unresolved questions and grievances, as well as the love that remains.
After a over a decade of working as an editor and writer, I’m stepping into the director’s chair to bring this vision to life. I want to do so alongside the talented people I’ve collaborated with over the years, who have inspired and pushed me from the very beginning. This film is not only a tribute to those I love and who have shaped my life and creative journey, but also a deeply personal exploration of family, memory, and the legacies that define us.

STory
Forgive or Forget is a tense, intimate short film about an author named Lucia, who returns home to confront her father’s past as a cartel executioner, and reveals her plan to expose his secrets in her next book.

Why Now
Forgive or Forget is the most personal project I’ve ever written, rooted in my own experience of watching a loved one slip into dementia. I want it to be as haunting as it is human.
But at the end of the day, I want to make something that's going to keep you on the edge of your seat. Something that's gonna sit with you and thrill you.
Lucia is played by Monica Raymund (Hightown, Chicago Fire), who I know is going to deliver a gut-wrenching performance. Working with Monica and a team I deeply trust, we're ready to create something special.

Funding Goal
We’re raising $40,000 to complete production on this four-day shoot in Los Angeles.
We’ve already secured $15,000 through internal contributions. The remaining $25,000 will be raised through this campaign. We’re also exploring fiscal sponsorship to allow for tax-deductible donations.
